It is a narrative music video inspired by the song Take Me to Church, set in post-war Spain. The story follows two young women who meet and develop a romantic relationship in a society where their love is rejected and condemned because of their sexual orientation. Through their story, I wanted to reflect themes such as repression, intolerance, and the struggle to be accepted in a hostile environment.
As the narrative progresses, the atmosphere becomes darker and more emotionally intense. Some scenes depict acts of violence and discrimination that reflect the cruelty and inhumanity many people experienced during certain historical periods. These moments were included not only for their emotional impact but also to emphasize the consequences of hatred and social exclusion.
From a technical perspective, the video is presented entirely in black and white to reinforce the historical context and emotional weight of the story. The editing focuses primarily on the rhythm at which images appear, aiming to complement the intensity and progression of the song. The music itself plays an essential role in the project, as its lyrics and atmosphere connect directly with the themes of oppression, identity, and forbidden love explored throughout the video.
